The inscriptions were taken at an earlier date but Mrs. Stanley Potts knew others were buried there and as it was not maintained, she felt other stones might be covered up. On March 29, 1982, these additional stones were found by Iola Potts and Jim and Nancy Martin using pointed iron probes.

James Albin visited and updated this cemetery in Spring, 2006 and on September 4, 2006 at which time the pictures were taken.

Note: It is known that a John Hood is buried here but all that was found was what appeared to be a large footstone with the letter "H".

Many of the Hirst family are supposed to be buried here. The only one found was a homemade stone with the inscription:
W.M. . . . .M.H
The wife of ?. M. Hirst

Editor's Note: This cemetery seems to be listed twice, under two different names (Brooking and Monroe) in the Listings of Willow Fork and Moreau Township cemeteries published by the Moniteau County Historical Society. They are all the same Brooking burials as listed here.
