TODD BUYS BUILDING
---------
May Tear it Down and Erect Addition to Garage
---------
Bill Todd proprietor of the Ford garage, has purchased from Dr. D. L. Stark the building which Doctor Stark used for his dental office for a number of years and which was used by Dr. M. C. Gowan after Stark retired.
The lot on which the building stands is adjacent to Mr. Todd's garage. It has a 27-foot front and is 100 feet deep.
Mr. Todd said Tuesday he had been negotiating in an effort to purchase the garage building, which belongs to G. W. Connell formerly of this city. Should a deal for the garage building be made he plans to tear down the Stark building and use the material to build an addition on the garage covering the lot on which the Stark building stands.

Todd To Erect New Building
---------
Kroger Company Takes Lease on Present Location of Ford Garage and Agency
---------
The Kroger Grocery Company has leased from the McConnell estate the building occupied by the Bill Todd Ford agency and garage, according to word received by J. W. Pope Sunday morning.
The Kroger Company, after carrying on improvements in the building which will cost several thousand dollars, will move its store there, making it into a super-market.
Mr. Todd had work started early this week toward building a location for his business on the north side of highway 50 just west of the intersection with highway 87 on a lot 105 feet square, which he purchased last year from Earl Eberhart.
Mr. Todd's new building will be a 1-story brick structure 105 feet east and west at the back and 73 feet north and south for the shop, office and parts room. The display room with 3-unit capacity will extend from the center of this south 32 feet and east and west 44 feet. this will leave driveway and parking space on the southeast and southwest corners of the property. A gasoline pump, principally for servicing Mr. Todd's own cars, will be east of the display room.
The showroom will have glass from the floor up on the east, south and west.
Just when possession of the McConnell building will be given, Mr. Todd did not know early this week. He expected to receive notice concerning this on March 1. He will push construction on the new building as fast as possible, though building is difficult now with the shortage of materials.
Mr. Todd bought the Ford agency and garage seven years ago when he and his family came here from Versailles. He owns his home in the northeast part of town and a few months ago purchased from Dr. D. L. Stark the building in the south of the McConnell property which Doctor Stark used for his dental office many years. He has done a nice business and plans to provide facilities with his new building to give better service than ever before.
The Kroger store, of whch Herman Fischer is manager, has operated at its present location about 25 years. It plans to offer its customers a greater variety of merchandise and more convenience in shopping in its new super-market.
