David Gross

December 6, 1946 ~ February 19, 2020 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Obituary

David Gross, age 73, of Tipton, Missouri, on February 19, 2020, succumbed to cancer after only two months of being diagnosed. He was at his home surrounded by his loving family. The youngest of ten children born to George Farris and Myrtle Irene Gross, David entered this world December 6, 1946 on the farm near Latham, Missouri.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country from June 7, 1965 to June 6, 1971. David was honored with a National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal for his service. He was a very patriotic man and loved his country.

David worked for Baughman Farms of Mora, Missouri for some time, Striderite Corporation and then Modine Manufacturing Co. in Jefferson City for 14 years. He ran a bulldozer for over 20 years and all his life, in addition to all other employment, he was a farmer.

David married Betty Dobson 34 years ago on February 22, 1986. His life was enriched with that union by adding children and grandchildren. His nieces and nephews were always a big part of his life too. David enjoyed playing games like Aggravation and marbles, and also fishing and being outdoors. He was also very interested in history, being a collector of books on that subject and listened to old country music by the hours. His sense of humor was evident as he always had a joke to tell or truly liked to play pranks on his family. Ford was the “only” vehicle worth driving or owning in his estimation. His dogs and his neighbor’s dogs were some of his best friends. Above all else, he loved his grandkids.

Preceding David Gross in death were his parents; brothers Denver Ray, Elbert Roy and Walter Frank Gross; sisters Minny Marie Phoenix and Mary Francis Lawrence.

Those surviving David are his wife Betty of the home; stepson Jody Romig and wife Tabby; stepdaughter April Kirchner and husband Wes; bonus son Joel Yoest and wife Dawn; grandchildren Hunter and Tate Kirchner, Chris and Brittney Romig, Hayden, Ella and Porter Yoest; brother Alonzo Mac Gross; sisters Verna Dean Brownfield, Georgia Fern Jones and Joan Mae Jones; numerous nieces and nephews.
