Moreau Presbyterian Church (About 1849-1960s)
Southeast of Tipton
Near Moreau Cemetery
October 15, 1891 Tipton Times:
The Cumberland Presbyterian congregation of Moreau church have acquired exclusive ownership to the site of the old Union church and have begun the erection of a new house of worship. A liberal fund has been raised and the new church will be an ornament to that locality. In addition to the material prosperity these indicate it also evidences a healthy sentiment in education and religious matters. This new church is another achievement the credit for which is largely due to Rev. Jonathan Williams.

Interesting History Connected With Church
Merlyn Springer was the purchaser of the Moreau church building and three acres of land sold at auction, Saturday, the purchase price being $720. The net proceeds of the sale will go into the Moreau cemetery endowment fund.
The history of Moreau church goes back many years. The ground on which it stood was entered a little over one hundred years ago from the government by George Hickman who deeded three acres of the land to trustees of Presbyterian and Methodist churches when a church building was erected on the site. In 1891 the church moved into the hands of the Cumberland Presbyterian church when a second church was built.
Ever since George Hickman deeded the land to the church some of his ancestors have served as members of the church board and Col. Lloyd Winebrenner who auctioned the properties, is a great-great-great grandson.
