Moniteau County Missouri
Moniteau County Churches
The early history of Moniteau County is reflected by the formation of places of worship throughout the county. This page shows the churches that were formed in "neighborhoods" that slowly migrated to the towns of the county. Some of these churches simply disbanded while others moved their buildings to the towns and continue today.
It is amazing in a town of just over 4,000 people, California has 5 active churches that were established prior to the Civil War. These include the Baptist (1833), Catholic (1860), Christian (1850), Lutheran (1860) and Methodist (1840).
If you have any church records from Central Missouri (Moniteau, Cole, Cooper, Morgan, Miller) Counties you would be willing to share and possible posting on this site, please contact Alan Sparks.
